MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Registration is officially open for the Badger Challenge, UW Health announced on Monday. It will take place on Sunday, September 21 and organizers said the event is being moved to UW Health Eastpark Medical Center.

The challenge that includes walking, running and biking is held every September to support groundbreaking cancer research and treatment initiatives at the UW Health – Carbone Cancer Center.

Deric Wheeler, co-founder of the Badger Challenge, said he is excited to bring the Badger Challenge to this facility.

β€œAt Eastpark, patients are receiving cutting-edge cancer treatments and have access to the latest clinical trials, which perfectly aligns with the mission of Badger Challenge,” Wheeler said.

The Eastpark facility opened in 2024 and is home to upright proton therapy, among other specialties.

Nearly 3,500 people participate annually in this challenge, and it has helped raise more than $4.7 million which goes toward advancing cancer research.
