Turkey plans to construct an 8.5-kilometer fence along its northwestern border with Greece, with the possibility of extending it in the future, according to Yunus Sezer, the prefect of northwestern border town Edirne, historically known as Adrianople.
Sezer stated that this marks the first time Turkey is implementing physical border security measures along its northwestern frontier.
The official also noted construction of electro-optical towers, for surveillance, is continuing, along with additional measures with the support of Turkey’s Interior Ministry and the Ministry of National Defense.
