The Ministry for European Affairs welcomes the decision of the European Payments Council (EPC) to expand the geographical scope of the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), with which North Macedonia yesterday became part of this important European financial area.

The Ministry for European Affairs announces that SEPA membership means easier, faster and cheaper transactions for citizens and companies.

“Remittances from the EU will arrive faster and at lower costs, while businesses will have easy payments in Europe. Membership will also strengthen international trust in North Macedonia’s financial sector and deepen trade relations with the European Economic Area. According to the EPC calendar, our financial institutions will begin accessing SEPA in April 2025, while the operational readiness of payment service providers is planned for October 5, 2025.”

“With this important achievement, North Macedonia becomes part of the single European payments market, which represents another concrete step of the Government towards European economic integration and improving financial services for citizens and companies. SEPA accession is a concrete benefit of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans in the context of accelerated integration,” the announcement says. /Telegrafi/
