India

India started the tournament against Bangladesh with a comfortable victory riding on Shubman Gill’s hundred in the run-chase. They followed it up with another comprehensive performance in the big match against Pakistan, this time with Virat Kohli scoring an unbeaten ton. New Zealand gave them the toughest fight in the group stage, but it wasn’t enough to defeat India. In the semi-final, they knocked out Australia to qualify unbeaten for the Champions Trophy final.

vs Bangladesh: won by 6 wickets
vs Pakistan: won by 6 wickets
vs New Zealand: won by 44 runs
vs Australia (semi-final): won by four wickets

New Zealand

New Zealand played the tournament opener against Pakistan and registered a big win. They followed it up with a clinical chase against Bangladesh that marked the return of Rachin Ravindra from injury. Against India, Kane Williamson put up a solo effort in a tough run-chase, but couldn’t take them over the line. Ravindra and Williamson then joined hands to each score hundreds in the semi-final against South Africa that helped New Zealand put up a mammoth total well beyond the Proteas’ reach.

vs Pakistan: won by 60 runs
vs Bangladesh: won by five wickets
vs India: lost by 44 runs
vs South Africa (semi-final): won by 50 runs
