The government, at today’s meeting, appointed the composition of the government commission that will have permanent communications with the League of Trade Unions.
The staffing of this Commission is important so that negotiations between social partners can continue, including the unions’ request for an increase in the minimum wage.
The Government’s information service informed that a representative from the Ministry of Economy and Labor, the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth, and the Ministry of Justice have been proposed to the Commission.
Prime Minister Hristian Mickoski, in a statement to the media several times so far, said that first the representativeness of the unions should be determined, and then the minimum wage should be discussed at a session of the Economic and Social Council.
The minimum wage is expected to increase this month, but by how much is unknown. According to the law, the increase should be around 1.800 denars, while the Trade Unions’ League is demanding an increase of 6.000 denars and contributions for the difference of up to 30.000 denars, which would be the minimum wage, to be subsidized by the Government. They then stated that no money has been planned in the Budget for this purpose. They agree to any solution that the unions and employers agree on, but with the costs fully covered by the employers.
