“Our language and constitution are disrespected, yet we are not offered EU membership in return,” said North Macedonia’s President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, within the framework of the 12th Global Baku Forum, APA reports.

She also touched upon attempts to polarize the UN:

“When Russia does not recognize the Ukrainian language, everyone reacts, but when the North Macedonian language is disrespected, everyone remains silent. Our language and constitution are disrespected, yet we are not offered EU membership in return. We believe in European values and think that moral boundaries are violated before physical borders are breached. When compromises are made on rights, international borders will naturally be violated as well. The founders of the UN faced significant challenges at that time, yet the UN was created. As a country facing double standards, we can say that we must make broad contributions to global consensus. If the UN becomes polarized and makes decisions serving political purposes amid the growing crises and challenges, we will end up living in a space filled with misinformation.”
