CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Incarnate Word Academy students have gone green and now are being awarded for their effort to help the environment.
Wednesday, H-E-B visited the Catholic school to present a $7,500 check to IWA’s Environmental Club, whose Go Green initiative aims to update the campus while fostering student leadership.
A science teacher and sponsor of the Environmental Club tells 3NEWS how the H-E-B check will benefit the school by updating its less energy-efficient, old thermostats.
“We have to manually set them every day, and all that,” said Jay Vasquez. “But when we go to digital thermostats, it’s going to save us a lot of energy. The whole school will be synchronized to one temperature.”
