The Russian representative for the Intervision Song Contest 2025 is yet to be chosen.

Following reports that Shaman had been selected to represent Russia at Intervision 2025, the Communications Director for the contest has confirmed the Russian representative has yet to be chosen. Anastasia Grigorieva told RIA that:

“The (the participant in the competition from the Russian Federation) has not been determined exactly, and we will officially announce later, of course, who it will be”

Russia appears unlikely to be holding a selection to determine their representative for the Intervision Song Contest. When a reboot of the contest was planned for 2014, a selection was held to determine the representative which was won by IVAN who would represent Belarus at Eurovision 2016.

Intervision 2025

More than 25 countries are reported to be interested in competing in the Intervision Song Contest. The contest is set to take place this September in the Russian capital, Moscow. The countries publicly confirmed as competing are:

Context

RTR, Channel One and Radio Dom Ostankino are all currently suspended from the European Broadcasting Union, following a unanimous decision from the Executive Committee in late May 2022.  This followed Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The event is being supported by the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Russian state broadcaster Channel One. The aims of the contest are to:

“to unite countries friendly to us, to introduce them to (Russian) culture, history, language and to demonstrate real Russian hospitality, while forming a favorable image of the organising country (Russia), as well as to acquaint the multi-million television audience with the diversity of cultures, demonstrate achievements of each country, point out the uniqueness of each, and at the same time emphasize the similarity of views, values ​​and aspirations.”
