Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced an increase in the minimum wage to €880 gross (€740 net), up from €830 gross, effective April 1.
The announcement was made during the cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
In his statement, the prime minister said that this increase is another step toward the goal of reaching €950 gross by the end of the government’s term.
“The annual net gain for workers will now be equivalent to almost an extra month’s salary compared to last year,” Mitsotakis said.
This marks the fifth increase in the minimum wage since 2019 and is expected to affect approximately 600,000 workers.
The cumulative increase over six years now stands at 35.4%, nearly double the total inflation rate for the same period, which was recorded at 18.1%.
