In the cricket in Napier this afternoon, the Black Caps have struggled early on to get the bowling away in the first ODI against Pakistan.
The tourists won the toss and put New Zealand in to bat on a challenging surface offering plenty to the bowlers.
In the last hour the Black Caps have upped the scoring in a superb partnership between Mark Chapman and Daryl Mitchell.
A short time ago, New Zealand were 165 for three after 32 overs, with Chapman on 73 and Daryl Mitchell on 34 at the crease.
Pakistan bowler Akif Javed has two wickets on debut.
