Too many people think of Due Process as some procedural nicety that we afford to bad guys out of the goodness of our hearts, to be discarded when inconvenient or when we are particularly motivated to act. But Due Process exists to protect everyone. What’s to stop the executive from labeling all political opponents as gangsters or pro-Hamas and disappearing them with plainclothes thugs in unmarked vehicles?

The judges need to start making clear that the arresting officers will be punished if they go along with these illegal orders. If you’re a high ranking administration official, costs you nothing to blow off a judge and say do it anyways. But if you’re some line cop who’s just doing his job, that’s a big deal. Justice is for the little people.

The actual answer is that they don’t give a shit. MAGAs see a person who is not white getting hurt, and they love it. They don’t care if the person has committed a crime, whether they are here legally, whatever. They just want anyone who is not a white Christian conservative to be hurt, and there doesn’t need to be a justification.
The lower left panel “worried face” is inaccurate, because they truly couldn’t care less if there’s a justification. If Trump just outright said, “We’re going to kill, deport or imprison every person within our borders who’s not a white Christian conservative,” they would think it was the most fantastic thing that has happened in the history of our country.

So when domestic terrorists that participated in an insurrection in an attempt to stop the confirmation of a free and fair election that their candidate lost are the subjects of the justice system, the government is full of, “deep-state, unelected bureaucrats.”
But when it’s non-violent immigrants that may or may not be here illegally and are blatantly having their constitutional rights violated, right wingers have complete and utter trust in the government.
