    Full post:

Today, I officially asked the Government of Kosovo to suspend import tariffs on all American products – an important step to deepen economic ties with our closest ally and to send a clear message: Kosovo is ready for a stronger relationship with the United States, with a clear vision that would make both of our countries stronger, more secure, and more prosperous.

I am convinced that this move will open new opportunities for job creation, technology exchange, and long-term economic growth. More than an economic move, this is a foreign policy objective, reaffirming our enduring commitment to the Kosovo-US alliance, built on shared values of freedom and decades of unwavering support.

US President Donald Trump has announced tariffs on almost two hundred countries worldwide, which will take effect on April 5 and 9 at midnight US time. Among the countries that the US has imposed tariffs on are Kosovo and Albania, each with 10 percent.

During 2024, according to Kosovo Customs statistics, the country recorded exports to the US of over 39 million, 176 thousand, 701 euros, while in the first three months of 2025 the export value was 5 million, 759 thousand, 490 euros.
