Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) – International Service: Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed News Agency, citing sources affiliated with it, announced that Abu Muhammad Al-Julani, who has called himself “Ahmad Al-Sharaa” after ruling Syria, has replaced his brother, “Maher Al-Sharaa,” as the head of the Syrian presidential office, replacing “Abdul Rahman Salameh.” Salameh has also taken up another position that Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed’s sources did not disclose.

     

    The head of the presidential office is a high-ranking position in the structure of the new Syrian government. This position exists with minor changes in a number of Arab countries and is generally responsible for managing the administrative and structural issues of the Syrian presidency.

     

    According to Mehr, this position is the link between the president and various government institutions and is also responsible for supervising and organizing the activities of the presidential office. Other duties of the head of the presidential office include preparing the president’s work schedule and organizing his official visits and trips, as well as managing the administrative department and supervising employees and institutions affiliated with the presidential office, and carrying out various correspondence and letters related to the president.

     

    Maher al-Sharaa held the position of head of the Ministry of Health in the cabinet of Mohammed al-Bashir, which was established on December 16, 2024. Al-Jolani’s brother experienced his second promotion in the new Syrian government within 4 months, effectively becoming the second person in power in the country.
