The agreement on mutual recognition of driver’s licenses between the Republic of Kosovo and the United Arab Emirates has entered into force.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates has officially announced today through a Note Verbale, sent to the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Abu Dhabi, that the Agreement on the Mutual Recognition of Driving Licenses between the two countries has entered into force.

This agreement enables citizens of the Republic of Kosovo and the United Arab Emirates to convert their driver’s licenses without having to undergo theoretical or practical exams in the host country.

The agreement represents an important step towards facilitating the movement and integration of citizens of both countries.

“This development is the result of close cooperation between the relevant institutions of both countries and testifies to the mutual commitment to strengthening and deepening bilateral relations,” the Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

The agreement was signed on December 4, 2024 in Abu Dhabi, by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, and the Minister of Internal Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

This is the second agreement of particular importance between the Republic of Kosovo and the United Arab Emirates, following the January 2024 agreement that enabled the abolition of visas for Kosovo citizens, further strengthening ties with a state with significant political and economic influence in the region and on the global stage.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo has expressed on this occasion its highest gratitude and consideration to the authorities of the United Arab Emirates, for their continuous and constructive cooperation.
