guys who’s fault is it i’m pretty dumb. i mean that’s gotta be the car in font’s fault but idk

  2. Car in front suddenly braked for no reason. 100% his fault. Biker wasn’t doing proper distance. Not his fault but hopefully a lesson for him.

I have several near crash experiences like this. Bike brakes are never as good as cars because of their lighter weight. Guys on motorbikes, do yourselves a favour and keep a safe distance from the car in front.

Motorbikes in freeway is a death sentence for me, i’d rather take a long detour elsewhere than taking the freeway.

  5. The silver Commodore did well to slow down well before the impact.
If they had have continued without slowing down, that rider would have been completly screwed.

    – M80
    – 3:35pm, ~~Thursday~~ Wednesday
    – Just before the M8 on ramp
    – Tailgating

That is a recipe called ‘asking for it’.

The traffic rarely flows through that portion at peak hour, and if it’s flowing, it’s flowing to a stop.

There’s a lot of things that could be said here, but dude needs to really look at both his practicality of riding (very avoidable accident – on many levels) but also his ability to read & predict traffic if he ever wishes to get back on the bike.

  7. No matter what you say, as I fellow rider myself, I have to say this : If you are riding a motorbike, you gotta be twice careful as you would be with the car, the whole “keep some distance” we keep saying it’s because of that, the fault here is on the rider, they should have been much further away.

How you look at things when you are riding a bike it’s fairly simple, you are made of meat, the cars are made of metal, the road is basically stone. Meat < Metal – Stone, you don’t want to be made into minced meat.

Biker is on P’s, not aware enough. Commodore on his left starts braking before the car in front. He should be looking everywhere, especially on the freeway which is bad enough in a car, let alone a bike.

Old mate Fen3ch the in the next lane did a great job of not running a *Marrickville Mauler* over the rider. If you listen carefully you can hear him say through the open window *”I don’t care who’s at fault, I love youse all”.*

  10. unlrelated but i have a unfiltered hatred for the 1 series hatcbacks. the coupes and convertibles were leagues better

The motorcycle riders I see while driving on this road or the Hume highway everyday either have a death wish or think they have lightning reflexes. The broken line between lanes is not a motorcycle lane.

  12. Great anticipation and reaction from the silver commo, biker owes that person a nice meal

motorbike guy was looking to his right the whole time until it was too late and was clearly distracted. When riding a motorbike, its very very easy to have this happen if you aren’t concentrating.

I’ve had it nearly happen a couple of times because as soon as you look away from the road, things can change REALLY quick, and it’s almost always the vehicle in front breaking. Gotta be on your toes.

I’m really surprised to see this. Not that it happened, but that it’s posted.

I asked this question last year and let’s just say people reacted negatively… I kinda hope you have permission to post, only for your own sake.

ETA. It’s not the points, I really want to know why it’s a poor question/comment

Ah man this is probably going to become more common than people might think. I feel bad for the Biker but unfortunately now days when riding you have to anticipate car drivers doing silly things unfortunately the P plater learnt this lesson the hard way.

For all you new bikers out there few tips
-keep a large gap from the rear of the car in front drivers have gotten worse you need all the braking distance you can get.
-stay away from anyone who is swaying in their lane, using their brakes constantly to modulate their speed, and any car that looks a bit rough or not very well kept.
-stay away from hatches and vans
-use your rear brakes more better to lock the rears than the front
-Get the Best tyres you can buy.

Gl and realise that people are getting worse at driving especially actually looking and planning more than 2m ahead of the car, ride safe.

As a biker… the bike was 100% at fault here. Followed too close and clearly wasnt looking ahead to predict the traffic. Nice work from the Commadore to avoid it being a fatality.

  17. Commodore slowed down to give biker enough space to flick himself out but unlucky biker wasn’t aware of the hazard in front of him

  18. I drive on M80 during the weekdays, and I have to say, the level of tailgating, right lane hogging, and inexplicable road rage is unparalleled on this road. And let’s not forget the drivers who seem to believe the speed limit is still 80 before the western freeway exit, even when the signs clearly indicate it’s 100 now.

Motor bike riders on the ring road are absolute psychos. Saw a learner biker this morning about 6:15 fly down the left lane that must turn in to the Hume then swing right across the other turning lane to get back out on the main road. Almost got destroyed by someone turning on to the Hume.

Pretty routine to see them splitting at 80+ KM too. Absolute head cases.
