Businessman Shkëlqim Devolli has been terminated from the diplomatic post he received in 2019 on behalf of the Republic of Kosovo, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla, announced. He was appointed Honorary Consul of Kosovo in Montenegro for the consular district of Rozhaja that year.
The decision was made, as Gërvalla wrote, as a result of the Devoll documents where Peja appears as a city in Serbia.
Gërvalla has said that anyone who denies Kosovo’s citizenship cannot be a representative of Kosovo.
“Zero tolerance towards deniers of the Republic of Kosovo. Never “Peć, Serbia” but Peja, the Republic of Kosovo. Yesterday, the mandate of Mr. Shkelqim Devolli as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kosovo in Montenegro for the consular district of Rozhaja ended. This decision, taken at the moment I was informed about this case, is irreversible. The goal is clear, to protect the dignity of the Republic of Kosovo from any attempt to deny it,” she wrote on Facebook.
Gërvalla added that Devolli has registered a business with a Serbian address and has spread propaganda against the state, investing millions “to tarnish Kosovo’s image in public opinion.”
Gërvalla’s post:
The acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has also reacted to this.
“”Those who deny it cannot represent the Republic. Peja is in Kosovo, never in Serbia,” Kurti wrote on Facebook.
