Kosova VR is a football team from Pristina, while next weekend they will face Mitrovica, the team that has dominated the country in recent years. Mitrovica is in the running for the championship title. They are fighting with Dukagjini for the title.
Dukagjini is in first place with 43 points, while Mitrovica ranks second with 41 points.
Kosovo VR is the only team in competitions organized by the Football Federation of Kosovo that has no points.
But coach Ilir Sopi expects his team to achieve victory this season. There are still a few rounds left to play.
“I hope we will achieve two victories. The team is on the rise and I believe that this season we will have joy. There are seven or eight rounds left until the end,” Sopi told KOHĪN on Sunday.
Kosovo VR has not yet won a point. However, the players of this team have won a match with an official result. Kosovo VR has won the Cup on the table, since the visiting team had not traveled.
“We are not good with results. We do not have any points, as my generation has changed. The teams that are competing for the title, Dukagjini, Malisheva, Mitrovica and Ulpiana, have taken my players. We have released them to get more funds. This year I am making a good team with new players. They are inexperienced, but the goal was to create a team with new players”, emphasized Sopi.
Kosova VR will face Dukagjini on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Cup.
“We have advanced to the Cup, as the visiting team did not come. We have advanced to the quarterfinals. Now we have the Cup match against Dukagjini on Thursday, then we have it against Mitrovica on the weekend. But after the match against Mitrovica, I believe we will achieve victory,” emphasized coach Sopi.
Kosovo VR is one of the first football teams. It was founded on October 14, 2002. Until recently, it was called Kosovo e Prishtina. But it had to be changed because the name “Kosova” is prohibited by the Administrative Instruction for the establishment and registration of public and private sports clubs.
No club has the right to be called Kosovo.
Kosovo VR will have to change its name again.
“Now it seems to me that it should be changed again. Before the name Kosovo, there should be a different name or designation,” says Sopi.
He said that the FFK helps the football teams with equipment. He appreciates the organization of the teams, while saying that this edition the competition has been weaker.
“The players are of mixed age. They are over the age of 17. It’s like that at other clubs too.”
