On Thursday, April 17, Cosm and Detroit real estate firm Bedrock officially broke ground on Cosm’s fourth experiential entertainment venue, which was announced in November 2024 and will be located in downtown Detroit, adjacent to Campus Martius. As has been the case at its predecessors in L.A., Dallas, and soon to be Atlanta, Cosm’s fourth venue will bridge the gap between the virtual and physical worlds and bring fans together through Shared Reality. The timeline and schedule of events upon the opening of the Detroit venue are to be announced at a later date.

“I’ve been able to hire an incredible team…who have been in this space and done this thing for a long time,” Cosm President and CEO Jeb Terry, said at the groundbreaking event. “And doing it at this scale, is really inspiring for me to see our teamwork. And to bring that here, not just in Detroit, but at Cadillac square, at Campus Martius Park, being part of this fabric of a community where all the roads lead? I mean it’s an opportunity, it’s a privilege and there’s a responsibility that we have for the commitment to this city, the community, the teams, the partners, and everyone here.

Since opening its first two venues in Los Angeles (Hollywood Park) and Dallas (Grandscape), and announcing its third venue location in Atlanta (Centennial Yards), Cosm has ushered in a completely new way for fans to experience live sports, immersive art, and experiential entertainment through Shared Reality – an experience that bridges the virtual and physical worlds by merging state-of-the-art visuals with the energy of the crowd, world-class hospitality, and an elevated food and beverage service.

“This is a fantastic opportunity, and it’s not about why Detroit? It’s about, why not?,” added Terry. “It’s a great American city, amazing fandom, vibrant community, amazing partners. It’s a huge opportunity for us and our responsibility to make sure we continue the momentum and be the always on, pulsing heartbeat of the city.”

Cosm Detroit will expand on the foundational design of its first three venues in Los Angeles, Dallas, and Atlanta, ensuring its innovative and iconic features are embodied throughout. The venue will also incorporate characteristics that reflect Detroit’s history, revival, and community.

“As we sit here today and as we look forward, today is symbolic of what we’ve achieved,” says Nic Barlage, CEO of Rock Entertainment Group, “but today is validation that Detroit belongs with the Nashville’s, with the Austin’s, with the LA’s and with the Atlanta’s. Detroit not only belongs, but it is going to keep building.”

Cosm Detroit will be part of the long-term revitalization of downtown Detroit spurred by real estate firm, Bedrock.

“Cosm will be a tremendous addition to the downtown entertainment and it will draw thousands of people,” says Kofi Bonner, CEO of Bedrock Detroit. “Thousands of people will be energized and elevated in remembering and experiencing just what a great city this is.”

For the development of its fourth venue, Cosm has hired ROSSETTI, local multi-disciplinary architecture firm with roots in Detroit. Like its other venues, Cosm Detroit will feature its design and proprietary technology, including a 26.6m 12K LED dome and an adjacent hi-resolution LED wall similar to the 150 ft long display at the Cosm in Hollywood Park.

Programming at Cosm Detroit will include a slate of live sports offerings, which continues to expand through official partnerships with UFC, the NBA, NBC Sports, TNT Sports, FOX Sports, ESPN, the NFL, and more, for fans to experience their favorite sports, teams, and events from across the world in Shared Reality.

In addition to live sports, Cosm’s programming will also highlight Cirque du Soleil’s timeless production “O” and immersive art experiences from members of the Cosm Studios Creator Program, including award-winning new media artist Nancy Baker Cahill; filmmaker, director, and co-founder of Planetary Collective Guy Reid; and acclaimed composer and new media artist Ricardo Romaneiro, with additional creators and studios to join the program in the future.
