TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) – The Sports Illustrated hotel project is back on the radar for Tuscaloosa city leaders.

It became a hot topic last fall, but developers withdrew construction plans after neighbors complained about the design. The location is still the preferred spot off Rice Mine Road.

City Councilman Norm Crow says he’s inviting constituents to a public meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Indian Hills Country Club. Hotel representatives are also expected to be there as well to show off their latest renderings.

Crow says the meeting will be an opportunity for neighbors to ask questions and get the very latest on the design.

“Sports Illustrated has resubmitted a plan for the potential resort that they have proposed on the river in Tuscaloosa. There’s still several questions that need to be answered and I still got some concerns that I’m hoping they’re gonna address tomorrow night and in the next couple of weeks,” said Crow.

Crow feels the proposal go could before the full city council at some point in May.
