Charlie Clifford named WLWT sports director

WLWT and Hearst Television announced today that Charlie Clifford has been promoted to WLWT Sports Director. Charlie will lead WLWT’s sports coverage working alongside Sports Anchor/Reporter Jaron May. Clifford joined WLWT in 2023.“Charlie has proven to be an incredible leader on our WLWT News 5 Sports team. His work re-energizing our Blitz 5 high school football tailgates, coverage of the Bengals, Reds and FC Cincy, along with his passion for college sports, makes his promotion to Sports Director a win for us,” said WLWT News Director Jeff Benscoter. “We look forward to more innovative sports coverage this year that we know fans will love,” Benscoter added.”I’m thankful for the opportunity to continue to be part of this winning team at WLWT,” said Clifford. “Most of us have worked in a few different newsrooms, and it doesn’t take long to realize the commitment WLWT has to local sports.
