Kosovo’s Parliament has once again failed, for the seventh attempt, to constitute the new legislature elected in the February 9 elections.
Opposition deputies have rejected, for the fifth time, the LVV’s candidate for Speaker of Parliament, Albulena Haxhiu.
The next session will be held on Tuesday, announced the chairperson of the constitutive session, Avni Dehari.
Representatives of parliamentary parties stated ahead of the session that their positions had not changed since previous sessions, predicting yet another failure.
Almost three months after the February 9 elections, the process remains stalled due to disagreements among several major parliamentary parties regarding the appointment of the Speaker of Parliament.
The constitution of Parliament, which began on April 15, has failed six consecutive times because the winning party, Vetëvendosje Movement, has been unable to secure the necessary votes for its candidate for Speaker, Albulena Haxhiu.
Vetëvendosje holds 48 seats out of the 120 total seats in Kosovo’s Parliament.
