MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Montgomery Public Schools will hold a community session focused on understanding and coping with grief, in recognition of Mental Health Month.

The event will be open to the public and aims to offer support for people navigating loss.

The session will include discussion on the stages of grief, strategies for managing loss, and will offer an overview of on resources available to people who need them.

“Our goal is to create a safe space where our students, families, and community members can learn, share, and begin to heal together,” said Dr. Rosalyn Daniels, MPS parenting specialist. “Mental health matters every day, and grief is something that touches all of us at some point in our lives. We want our community to know they’re not alone.”

The session will be held Wednesday, May 7 at the Juliette Hampton Morgan Library in Montgomery.
