Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis will participate in the 10th Three Seas Initiative (3SI) summit in Warsaw on Tuesday. Greece has been a member of the initiative since September 2023.
The 3SI aims to enhance connectivity between the Baltic, Black, Adriatic and Aegean seas, focusing on energy, transportation and digital infrastructure.
While the initiative is still in its theoretical stages, Greece has promoted its ports in Alexandroupoli, Kavala and Thessaloniki as key connectivity hubs.
To achieve this, Greece will need to upgrade its northern railway network. Besides the 13 member-states, Germany, the United States, Japan and the European Union are strategic partners, with Ukraine and Moldova as associate members. Spain, Turkey, Albania and Montenegro have shown interest in joining.
