Murati: LDK’s refusal to meet with Kurti is a clear answer to who is blocking the Parliament

Vetevendosje Movement MP Hekuran Murati said that with the invitation of the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, to PDK and LDK to discuss the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly and the LDK’s refusal to accept the invitation, it is becoming clear who is blocking the Kosovo Assembly, reports “KosovaPress”.

Murati, before the constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly, said that the LDK’s refusal to meet is a clear response to the citizens of Kosovo.

“It is becoming clear who is blocking, the refusal to even discuss the topic, I believe, is quite clear. We also have another hypocrisy, where it is said that the position of the mayor, let’s discuss it, while the position of the vice mayor is guaranteed to us by the constitution, the same position is guaranteed by the constitution,” said Murati.

Today will be the ninth attempt to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo.

MPs have failed for the eighth time in a row to constitute the ninth legislature of the Kosovo Assembly. The session was interrupted after the candidate of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albulena Haxhiu, failed on Tuesday to receive the necessary votes for speaker.

Kurti’s invitation comes after former Justice Minister Albulena Haxhiu failed six times to secure 61 votes for Speaker of the Parliament, while the constitutive session for the ninth legislature will continue today at 10:00.

Vetevendosje Movement MP Mefail Bajqinovci has said that they will not give up on Albulena Haxhiu’s name for Speaker of the Parliament, despite the meeting between LVV leader Albin Kurti and PDK leader Memli Krasniqi, which is being held before the constitutive session resumes, which will begin at 10:00 on Thursday.

Vetëvendosje MP, Mefail Bajqinovci, said that Vetëvendosje will not change the proposed name for the position of speaker of parliament. 

“I hope that the institutions will be unblocked, in this case the Kosovo Assembly. Prime Minister Kurti has sent an invitation to the two opposition parties, but we are seeing that the LDK has a position against it. Knowing that the LDK does not have the criteria to meet with Porfirje, the biggest Serbian chauvinist who immediately after the meeting with the LDK president went to Russia, while there is no possibility of meeting with Prime Minister Kurti to unblock the institutions. There is already a meeting with the PDK and we expect the legislature to be unblocked and to have the president of the Assembly, in this case Albulena Haxhiu… No (LVV-PDK governing coalition). I think that only the unblocking of the institution of the legislature is being discussed. This is the first step then for the creation of the government,” he said.
