The Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) has reacted to the attempt to change the voting method during the continuation of the constitutive session of the Assembly, calling this action arbitrary and contrary to the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly of Kosovo.
In a statement to the media, KDI expresses “deep concern” about the allegedly irregular manner in which the voting was conducted during today’s session, emphasizing that the intervention of the chair of the session to change the voting method “in the middle of the process and without procedural basis” constitutes a serious violation of democratic parliamentary practices.
“Changing the rules during the game – especially when it serves internal political calculations – seriously damages the authority of the Assembly and undermines public trust in the integrity of democratic processes,” says the response of the organization that closely monitors the work of the Assembly.
KDI has called on the chair of the session, Avni Dehari, as well as all deputies, especially the parliamentary group of the Vetëvendosje Movement, to respect the procedural standards set out in the Rules of Procedure and to act in accordance with the norms of institutional and political responsibility required by the representative function.
The organization concludes by emphasizing the need to preserve the integrity of institutions and guarantee transparency at every step of the parliamentary process.
