Phillip-Michael Scales performs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Stockroom East, 625 Jefferson Blvd. Ste. C, South Bend.

Phillip-Michael Scales performs Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Stockroom East in South Bend.
Scales released his debut album, “Sinner-Songwriter,” in 2021, followed by the singles “Leaning on the Altar,” “Be My Own Man” and “Can’t Get Enough,” which debuted in the No. 1 spot on Spotify’s “Ready For the Day” editorial playlist.
On April 25, he released his second album, “Good to Be Here,” produced by Grammy Award-nominated producer Dan Knobler (Lake Street Dive, Allison Russell and Bahamas).
According to a press release, the album catalogs the journey of an artist without a record label or viral hit building his dream brick-by-brick.
Scales calls his music “Dive Bar Soul,” a blend of indie-rock storytelling and the passion of the blues, the press release says, that channels the old-school grit of Stax Records soul.
Born in Michigan and later based in Chicago before moving to his current home in Nashville, Scales grew up with B.B. King calling him “nephew.”
He previously performed at Stockroom East in May 2024 and as the opening act for Keb’ Mo’ at The Lerner Theatre in Elkhart in June 2024.
Northern Indiana native singer-songwriter Julia James opens.
Tickets are $15.
