The first Monday in May brings out the boldest of personalities and fashion choices as A-listers across art, film, literature, music, sports and more attend The Met Gala in New York City.

Former LSU star Angel Reese served on the Met Gala host committee this year. On Monday, she wore a black two-piece Thom Browne look that featured a prominent white collar and floor-length skirt. The top laced up on the sleeves, while the skirt included a corset at the waist.

This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” puts a focus on menswear and the influence of Black dandyism on fashion. According to Vogue, the history of Black dandyism will “illustrate how Black people transformed from being enslaved and stylized as luxury items, acquired like any other signifier of wealth and status, to autonomous self-fashioning individuals who are global trendsetters.”
