MADISON, Wis. — The heating season comes to an end on May 15, but residents can still receive assistance from the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program.

“Despite recent news of federal staffing cuts, WHEAP benefits are still available to help household with their heating and electricity bills and reduce their energy burden.” said Wisconsin Department of Administration Secretary Kathy Blumenfeld.

Benefits are income dependent, and households may be eligible if the gross household income is 60% of the state median income or less.

Households can apply for WHEAP online at the Home Energy website.
