President Vjosa Osmani congratulated Pope Leo XIV on his election as pope on Thursday.
While offering her congratulations on behalf of the people of Kosovo, she said that their voice will carry great weight.
“On behalf of the people of the Republic of Kosovo, I express my sincere congratulations to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV on his election. At a time when the world longs for peace, unity and compassion, his voice will carry great weight. May his papacy be marked by moral clarity, unwavering leadership and a deep commitment to the dignity of all humanity,” Osmani wrote on the X platform.
Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost of the United States has been elected the 267th pope in history. The 69-year-old from Chicago is the first pope from the United States. He will be known as Leo XIV. He is considered a highly experienced leader who has spent his entire career in Latin America and served in the Vatican office. He is expected to continue the reforms initiated by Pope Francis.
