Greece, N.Y. — The Greece Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted its 35th annual Youth Hall of Fame award ceremony Wednesday night.

The event recognizes and honors outstanding 11th and 12th-grade students.

Some have demonstrated leadership or dedicated service to the community. Some have coped with a life challenge, and others have overcome a personal tragedy.

“From 9th through 12th, I did terrible in school, I have difficulties doing tests and stuff, and I’ve overcome that, and now I’m doing better,” said inductee Laura Seadeek, a 12th-grade student at Greece Olympia High School.

“It’s a lot of personal achievements for themselves, academically, a lot of them are in arts and music, we have sports, so it’s really all over kind of youth hall of fame,” explained Megan Ferra, member of the Greece Board of Education.

“It’s exciting,” Ferra continued. “They’ve done a lot of great things, and they need this more than ever.”

Candidates are nominated by teachers, counselors, local businesses or community members.
