‘On Golden Pond’

‘Postcards’ on display
“Postcards,” images of postcards by Sherwood photographer, illustrator and sculptor Mark Wittig, is on display through May 30 at the North Little Rock Public Library System’s Innovation Hub, 204 E. Fourth St., North Little Rock, with an Argenta Third Friday Art Walk reception, 5-8 p.m. Friday. ‘Most Elusive Artist’
Rarely seen watercolors, block prints, ceramics and sketches alongside more recognizable works by Ocean Springs, Miss., artist Walter Inglis Anderson (1903-1965) are part of a 40-piece traveling exhibition titled “The South’s Most Elusive Artist: Walter Inglis Anderson,” opening with a 5:30-7 p.m. reception Friday at the South Arkansas Arts Center, 110 East Fifth Street, El Dorado.
Most of the works come from the permanent collection of the Walter Anderson Museum of Art in Ocean Springs and Anderson’s estate. Some of it has never previously left Mississippi.
Anderson was born in New Orleans but spent the majority of his life in the small seaside town of Ocean Springs. He was classically trained at the New York School of Fine and Applied Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts’ inaugural Art Market, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 6 and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 7 throughout the museum, 501 E. Ninth St., Little Rock, will include works by 39 artists from Arkansas, Texas, Tennessee, Missouri, Oklahoma and Arizona — 34 chosen by a panel of three jurors and and five artists and galleries by invitation.
