The Moon photographed on 1 May 2025.
This is my sharpest HDR of the Moon in this phase (21%). I also managed to get some interesting shades of lunar seas by enhancing saturation. The red tones are responsible for the iron oxide content, and the blue – for titanium oxide on the surface. In some places, mixtures of these minerals sometimes give more interesting colors such as purple or pink.
Taken with Canon 550Da, Canon 6D (for dark side), Baader UV-IR cut, GSO 150/750, Arsenal EQ5, 2x Barlow lens. Stacked in AutoStakkert3, deconvolution and wavelets in Astra Image 3.0, color, curves, levels in Adobe Photoshop.

  2. This is the best shot of the moon I have ever seen. Excellent work. I don’t spend a lot of time on astronomy forums but I feel like I have never seen a shot quite like this.
