  1. The Roman Space Telescope has a field of view 100 times larger than the James Webb, letting it map huge areas of sky at once and find thousands of new worlds. It could even be the first to spot moons and rings around planets beyond our solar system—discoveries no other telescope can make.

  2. What is the current status of this telescope? How far away from being able to launch is it?

If NASA wants funding, it should spend all of its remaining money building a golden luxury spaceship to bribe Trump.

  4. To safeguard funding they should rename it to the Trump Space Telescope. Then as soon as he can’t harm the mission anymore, add a “Fuck” in front.

PhD in Astronomy here. This is par for the course.

I remember visiting JPL in 2017 and seeing the completed Orbiting Carbon Observatory (OCO-3) just sitting on the test bench. It was paid, complete, and ready to launch, but Trump had just zeroed the budget for launch…most likely because it would produce the most sensitive observations yet of CO2 emissions.

After having its funding restored by Congress, OCO-3 did eventually launch in 2019.

  6. But, if you do launch Roman, billionaires will have to pay a tiny bit more taxes every year – so, NO, you cannot have that!!!

Does no one ever think of the poor billionaires?!?!!
