MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – A group of Minot musicians is bringing their talents to Norway.

A total of 45 members from the Minot Chamber Chorale and Minot State University Choir are going on the 10-day trip.

MSU choir member Nathan Sagsveen is one of the musicians traveling abroad.

It’s timely, as this year marks the 200th anniversary of the first emigrations of Norwegians to the U.S.

Sagsveen said the group will take part in parades, perform Norwegian songs, visit museums and more. He added that the group’s first stop will be in Minot’s Norwegian sister city, Skien (SHAY-en).

“In the crazy world that is today, music is one of the things that can bring people together. So I think that’s sort of the goal, is to keep this relationship between these two regions strong,” said Sagsveen.

A group from Minot took a similar trip roughly five years ago.

We’ll check in with the group for updates on their adventures and talk with them when they return to the Magic City.
