Hey everyone! This is my first post here, and I wanted to share a tool I’ve been working with that might interest urban data enthusiasts, city planners, and anyone curious about location intelligence.

15mincity.ai is a free AI tool that lets you analyze any location in the world using the 15-minute city framework. You can explore global places and export Points of Interest (POI) data for deeper analysis and research.

What’s new in the latest version:
✅ Improved isochrone accuracy for walking/biking
✅ Smarter Aino AI model that incorporates local context
✅ Switched to Overture Maps Foundation for richer, more global POI data
✅ Added new metrics: service access, mixed-use buildings, and more

The 15-Minute City is a planning concept focused on ensuring residents can access most of their daily needs (schools, shops, parks, etc.) within a 15-minute walk or bike ride. We take this idea further by analyzing a range of urban metrics:

🔹 Mixed-Use Development – Diversity in building types and uses
🔹 Essential Services Access – Density and proximity of groceries, schools, healthcare, etc.
🔹 Public Transit Efficiency – Network coverage and accessibility
🔹 Walkability/Bikeability – Infrastructure like car-free zones and safe paths
🔹 Green Spaces – Parks, tree-lined streets, and gardens
🔹 Social & Recreational Facilities – Libraries, sports centers, community spaces
🔹 Local Jobs – Employment opportunities within the area
🔹 Community Infrastructure – Civic spaces and local engagement hubs
🔹 Sustainability & Resilience – Energy efficiency, renewables, low emissions
🔹 Safety – Well-lit streets, signage, and public safety measures
🔹 Cultural Amenities – Museums, galleries, festivals, and theaters

The AI scores each area from 0 (poor) to 10 (excellent) for each component, based on open data sources and insights from the Aino AI model.

Would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or ideas for new features. Happy to dive deeper into the data methods or share examples if anyone’s interested!

  1. It seems to be counting private amenities (pools, tennis courts) that are within gated communities, not accessible to most.

And it got my city name wrong; it chose the name of a suburb we do not even border.

Otherwise, it seems to have performed well.

  2. I’m actually planning to move to another state in a month or two so this could be incredibly helpful, thanks!
