Submission Statement: A deep dive into the so-called Dead Internet Theory. How bot traffic, generative-AI spam, algorithmic “enshittification,” and corporate curation created the feeling that the web is running on autopilot. Facts vs hype, and potential fixes like AI watermarks, open-source search, and human-verified spaces. Meh – a whole lot of words, but not much new or insightful ideas.
They really overplayed the conspiracy aspects of the dead internet theory and focused more on the end state (all internet data is fake) rather than just saying internet content is increasingly bot or AI generated.
