How much should we worry about this. Feel like most of this kind of news are usually nothingburger and doesn’t affect the general public other than some mild inconveniences at best.

Can someone give me a tldr? Internet is to slow to load the site properly.

  4. Normally I wouldn’t worry about this, but Trump’s in office, so any emergency detection and response is just not going to be available.

“You’re still coming to work, right?” -My bosses carrier pigeon probably

I kinda feel like we hear this or something like it every few years lol. I think I remember one time they said a flare was going to flip our magnetic poles

  7. There’s absolutely nothing we can do about it, so worrying about it is useless.

  8. We have around 3 days heads up on solar flares

The sun is at peak cycle it’s a bit wild up there

Fear-mongering doesn’t do anything, so put some effort into what you can do

A week’s worth of non-perishable food goes a long way

A portable battery pack by Jackery, Anker, EcoFlow, etc. are nice to have (plus solar panel)

Study up on what strong solar flares do to power systems – the longer the line, there’s a bit of a risk for interruption

Spain is under phone and internet blackout; bad luck for them if it is linked with these flares

    Please yes

    I NEED that

Just a few days with no phone, no work, nothing but nature, birds chirping, and no light pollution

I know there are dangerous downsides, but let my inner kid dream

  11. We’ve had plenty of time to plan for this and we just didn’t. Gotta love our government.
