Surprised at the sudden change of tone, but welcome nevertheless.

We would be cowards to stay silent while 2 million people starve and beg for food like it’s the Victorian era all over again.

  3. Welcome, but should have happened much sooner. More of this, please.

A blight on this country that so many innocents had to die in order for them to finally act.

  4. > He says the 11-week blockade stopping humanitarian aid reaching Gaza is “cruel”.

Given that so much aid got in during the ceasefire that they haven’t starved for most of three months without aid, why are we to think that they will starve this 12th week?

I.e. Everyone repeatedly cries famine, but it’s never actually happened, because seemingly Israel lets aid in before it gets to that.

All posturing to the media and public.

It is an absolute disgrace. No issue with Israelis. Just their government.

    Watched the Bibi Files.

Their PM I hope will end up behind bars. What a stain on humanity he is and all those that have allowed this to happen.

This cannot be swept under the carpet. Heads need to roll.

    Bit late.

History will look upon the UK and shake its head at how we supported everything we fought against in WW1+2

A little too late I’m afraid! The damage has been done!

Better than nothing I suppose 🤷‍♂️

  8. Agree with this stance from the UK. I’m a Zionist in respect I believe that Jews have a right to self-determination. As a Jew myself I think we have a right to our own country. But not like this. My family often take trip to visit family in Israel, we don’t want to any time soon, not because of the danger, because we don’t want to contribute to what’s happening over there. It’s really upsetting, the more this goes on, the more distant I feel with what should be a safe place for me and my family. Fuck Netanyahu, fuck the current Israeli government.

  9. Is lammy allowed to say Israel are breaking international law this time without getting a dressing down?

Performative and far too late – but better than nothing I suppose. Although I suspect it’s simply to maintain a veneer of respectability and will be reinstated as soon as Israel claims to have sent 200 trucks of aid in or whatever paltry amount is allowed to feed 2mn starving, displaced people while they’re bombed relentlessly.

Long overdue but I suspect (once the cameras are allowed into Gaza) you will see scenes on par with Yugoslavia in the 1990s. This is a manmade, planned and deliberate famine aimed at genocide. There is no justification and I’m glad we have a government with backbone to say “actually, not with our help”…

I’ve tried to give Israel all the slack, but it’s obvious they see Palestinians as a threat to the existence of Israel, man, woman or child should be gone. These are the hard facts. This will only end when the population is negligible.

  13. I’m guessing they’ll start calling us all anti-semites now in response? They love playing that card.

  14. Yeah 40’years too late. After they have raped and killed and destroy Palestinian children and babies. They need to be tried for crimes against humanity. Filth

Should have pressured Hamas to release remaining hostages and surrender those who organised and participated in the attacks. Hamas would do this long ago if they gave a shit about civilians.

It’s about time former allies of the terrible regime in Israel spoke out about this disproportionate, genocidal war on civilians.

It’s not good enough, for the past year we have enabled and been complicit in Israeli war crimes against innocents. Every single day there is a new video released with innocents being killed, a member of the knesset calling for genocide or a tv host caling Palestinians animals.

I still remember the video of the aid landing on the beach and Israelis bombing it and that little girl who was in the ambulance when idf fired on it.

Finally doing something against this Hitler wannabe. Big up all the people protesting against him in Israel

  20. The UN chief just announced 14,000 babies are at risk of dying in the next 48 hours due to the forced famine. Anyone in government supporting this will have to answer for it in the Hague someday.

  21. Disappointing but unsurprising to see Keir Stürmer standing strong in support of the traditional European stance that genocide is fine, as long as it’s against Jews. We’re lobbying to let the UN deliver truckloads of resources to their Hamas partners to support their campaign of eradication, while blocking their victims from even *buying* arms from us in case they use them to defend themselves. Truly shameful.

The correct response to having your foot trod on isn’t to blow the guy’s head off.

  23. whatsinyourhead on

It’s about time the uk government changed its stance on israel committing genocide. Although it might look like they finally grew a backbone i feel like this has more to do with how the US government, more specifically Trump, has finally had enough of israel and netanyahu and are just following their lead. We are basically a vessel state of the US when it comes to international relations.

  24. smokesletsgo13 on

After about 18 months of directly supporting them and allowing it all to happen. Lol

  25. While RAF is still doing sorties from Cyprus for the Israeli govt and the British weapons manufacturers are supplying them the killing machines. We are so moral.

  26. Significant_Glove274 on

    About fucking time.

Israeli pigs – this will stain them for years.

  27. wishbeaunash on

I must admit I was sceptical of the claims of genocide, but the aid blockade combined with statements made by Trump and Netanyahu have changed that. I’m glad to see the government taking a stand and I hope they go further if things don’t change.

Not for the first time it would appear the widely-vilified peaceniks were absolutely correct.

  28. Great, now halt all current trade, put sanctions on the Likud leadership and all IOF personnel and close the embassy.
