    1. This is simply not true.

A very few companies have had occasional trials, but there is absolutely no widespread adoption or even testing of a four day work week in Norway.

These Gemini-results that they have added at the top of Google searches are very unrealiable. You should not trust them.

I have 20 years of work experience in Norway, from multiple towns, and have never ever heard of this.

I’ve worked as a machine operator before and some of my colleagues has had work mondays to thursdays 12 hour shifts. I think it’s more common in shift jobs

    5. Norway’s 37.5 work hours week is not shorter than many other countries, because here in Norway we don’t include mandatory 0.5 hour break in work hours, while other countries do thus making their work week 40 hours. While in reality work week is the same.

    6. I wouldn’t be able to finish everything I need to do in just four days. I’m paid by how much I produce. Less work done = less money for me to enjoy on my newfound spare time.
We would have to increase the prices equivalently, but people already think their dental visits are expensive enough.

The 37.5h work week just doens’taccount for break hours. In germany its called 40h week but the 2.5h are just the unpayed lunchbreak.
Norway has the same 40h 0800 to 1600 they just dont include the lunchbreak in the amount

I am currently exploring somewhere about a 3 day work week. Love it! A full week salary would of course have been nice, but still love it

I have heard about this in other countries, but nothing about it on Norway. And I see it’s take from Gemini, yeah… that will probably give a lot of false postives.

    10. I know companies give more weeks of holiday, where I work we have 6 weeks, and I know of some that has 7, but I have never heard of someone that practices 4 day work week.

There’s a massive up-tick in 14/21 onshore rotations in heavy industry though.

Much better. Work 14x 12-hour shifts, do whatever and live wherever you want for 3 weeks.

Due to manpower shortages, I get to double-dip and worked a week for double the pay across the road, this month.

Tine SA in Heimdal, Trondheim tried for years, and it actually worked well. Higher workplace happiness, lower sickleave %, higher production numbers, etc.

Unfortunately for them, the Tine board didn’t like it, so they tried to scrap it, before they’ve eventually got it their way about 2 years ago…

I think one of the reasons was that other production lines wanted the same, as they saw non-issue for not implementing it at their place, since it was already proven to work at a similar production line.

I’ve seen articles about this experiment, but I have yet to meet anyone who actually works for a company that participates in it.

From what I have read about companies trying this, it usually means you have a day off somewhere in the week, because they still have to remain open for business five (or even six) days a week.

Given such a model I would rather go for a six hour, five day work week. Two more hours of free time daily would have greater value for me than a random day off between workdays.

If a four day week would always mean a three day weekend it would be different, but that is not likely to be possible for most jobs.

    14. It’s not going to happen.

Norwegian productivity has stalled. Shorter work week will just end out in bankruptcies.

Not common but I know a few people that have flexi time, as long as they work their contracted hours within that week.

Most work an extra hour Monday to Thursday and leave at 12:00 on Friday to go to their cabin.

I work 6.5 hour days and that includes my 30-minute lunch break. Would obviously love to only work 6, but I don’t see that happening any time soon.

    17. I don’t know of a single company that is exploring the 4-day work week. I’m in tech and have hired 100+ devs over the years and never have I encountered someone coming from or going to a company with a 4-day work week. Haven’t heard talks about it in the industry either. Only political talk from parties like MDG (green) or Rødt (far left).
