Honestly, I can’t blame them with that tool in power in America. The more Americans move here the better.

Are they not just economic refugees? Surely we should not be letting young men of fighting age in from this 3rd world country that does not share our culture and values

Have them pay 100k entry and fast track them to a working visa

Land of the free, seeks refuge in the land that supposedly once oppressed them. How to tell me the American revolution was a mistake without actively saying it.

>During the 12 months leading up to March, more than 6,000 US citizens have applied to either become **British subjects or to live and work in the country indefinitely** – the highest number since comparable records began in 2004, according to data released on Thursday by the [UK](https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news)’s Home Office.
Unless they have ancestry, this requires at least 5 years of residency in the UK, so they’ve been here since before Trump started his second term..

The good news being we’re not as bad as the US. Yet.

Would be fantastic if the UK & USA could enter an agreement for “swaps” – for every one that wants to come here – one gets to go there. Will make loads of people happy.

American here that moved in 2015 and became a citizen last year.
Can confirm it’s expensive since as fuck. And you get nothing until you have settled status.
30 days of holiday and no 80 hour work weeks is totally worth it.

Can we swap each one for a Reform UK member/voter?
They can go and live in their MAGADOGE utopia and thats one less vote for the British branch of the Alt-Right in return.
Everyone wins.

I understand people fleeing from dangerous ideologically extreme regimes.
However, they come from a place where violence is the norm. Many still think that waving around guns is a good idea.
As long as they culturally integrate, and bring valuable skills I think we should welcome them, cautiously.

I honestly feel sorry for them if they think they’ll like it here! lol
I think lots of Americans still have a romanticised idea of the UK at it was in old movies and stuff. The stereotype Brit being Eric Idle in ‘national lampoons vacation’ lol. Everyone actually born here and super polite and non-confrontational etc.
Wait till they see what it’s like now! Literal armpit of the world lol
I’d love to go live in the US!

They are most welcome. The Americans seeking refuge will be unlikely to be MAGAs.

Here is the reality folks, the US government is using ICE to round up citizens that shit-stir or oppose the current regieme and deport them to a politically dicey nation and place them into what even internally they are softly calling concentration camps. On US reddits people who were contracted to work on them (showing evidence to back their claims) have openly stated that they are precisely that.
The US is not a safe place for a number of citizens right now and while I’m not going to say the UK should be encouraging more people to dive right in (because we have issues of our own thanks to decades of government inaction on infrastructure investment), I’m certainly not going to proclaim that I don’t have every sympathy for people who might be fleeing because they have just cause to evade the clutches of the tangarine tyrant.
So if people are coming here because they will be persecuted, and they are skilled individuals who can bring something to the nation (after all, it’s the US – so many of these people will have skilled trades), I don’t have a problem with it – assuming of course they don’t bring any religious or political ideology along for the ride.

Hard to believe, given what a sorry place the UK (outside of fabulously wealthy London) has become. Guessing the incoming Americans are mostly the very rich ones who figure they can get a killer deal on one of those country mansions or palaces where the upper class spends weekends. Lot of those so-called noble families are financially strapped these days.

Nope. Gotta treat everyone equally – don’t let them in. Our cultures don’t align – we dont agree with gunning school children down.
