The German Ambassador to Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, said Kosovo must urgently form its institutions. He urged politicians to put the state first.
After the 22nd failed attempt to constitute the Assembly, Rohde told KosovaPress this deadlock harms Kosovo’s image abroad.
He said the lack of functional institutions slows internal decision-making. It also blocks Kosovo from benefiting from international initiatives like the EU Growth Plan.
Rohde described the situation as a “gridlock” that breeds apathy. He said politicians must prioritize the state over party politics.
“People did their job on February 9. Now politicians must act. Without a working institution, it’s hard to make tough decisions or ratify agreements,” Rohde said.
He stressed the Assembly deadlock results from political parties’ unwillingness to compromise.
On Tuesday, MPs again failed to constitute the Assembly for the 22nd time. Vetëvendosje, in coalition with Guxo and Alternativa, could not form the committee for the secret vote of the parliament speaker.
