All this talk of “DEI” (which is actually EDI in the UK) and how bad it is…EDI initiatives cover all kinds of accessibility and other situations. Making reasonable adjustments so that people with disabilities are able to work, they’re treated fairly when it comes to promotions etc. That also covers someone who’s in a role and suffers an accident that has a significant impact, losing a limb, sight or hearing for example. Ensuring a company makes reasonable adjustments to help you keep working. If you have a child and take parental leave, you aren’t to be discriminated against.
It’s not ‘just’ about race/religion/sexuality as it’s seems to be being politicised for.

Although I’d never heard the term “DEI” until recently, because up until then I just assumed hiring people based on skill and not based on their ethnic/cultural/religious background, gender or sexual orientation was basic, normal human decency shit… like, the absolute bare minimum of being a reasonably ethical and modern-minded employer. How is £7 billion being spent on… that? I’d love to know.
