After 40 years of game day forecasts, Chuck gets recognition for being a team player.
INDIANAPOLIS — Ahead of his retirement, legendary WTHR meteorologist Chuck Lofton is being recognized by Indy’s pro sports teams.
On June 4, Chuck was presented with signed, custom jerseys from the Pacers, Fever and Colts on 13 Sunrise. Each bears the number 13 and has the name “Lofton” on the back.
The Pacers jersey was signed by star Tyrese Haliburton ahead of the team’s first NBA Finals appearance in 25 years.
Fever star Caitlin Clark signed Chuck’s Fever jersey as the team hopes to build on last year’s post-season push.
The Colts jersey was signed by late owner Jim Irsay shortly before he passed, honoring Chuck’s 40 years of work in our community. Irsay’s message read, “Congrats on 40 great years, Chuck!! You will be missed!”
Chuck has also been honored by the Indianapolis Indians, Indy Eleven, Indy Freight and Indy Alleycats in the run up to his retirement after his last forecast on Friday, June 6.

On June 4, at a ceremony for Chuck’s colleagues and friends to honor his decades of service, Indiana Gov. Mike Braun presented Chuck with the Distinguished Hoosier award.
13News is also naming its studio in Chuck’s honor. From now on, the station will broadcast the news from the Chuck Lofton Studio at WTHR.
