  1. Shocker.

You know what I think about Fords CEO? Or Toyota? Or Chrysler? Or Kia? Or Volkswagen?

Nothing, because I don’t fucking know who any of them are.

Tying your companies identity directly to your own can work great, as long as people continue to like you. Act like a giant fucking child (and this was happening long before he got into US politics) however and your company will tumble alongside your reputation.

It all started going downhill fast after he called that diver trying to save the children in Thailand a pedo.

This is what happens when a company creates a personality cult around an idiotic personality.

When there are cheaper better electric/hybrid cars on the market tesla value was in the perception of the brand. Elon has shot that in the foot

  4. Step 1: Build a brand around being an innovator that furthers progressive causes.

Step 2: Go insane, burn the brand down and go all-in on Trump.

    Step 3: ???

    Step 4: Profit!

I would imagine the majority of new sales are company cars anyway, and I have notice a lot less driving around the Uk as I did last year.

The second hand sales price on EV are through the floor, our car division have already dumped them as they cant recoup enough costs on the sales price after 3 years use so they are no longer on the company car list.

I would imagine after next year its going to be much worse for them in the UK.

Pretty impressive given that my work keeps offering both 3s and Ys on salary sacrifice for sub £150 a month with delivery within a week.

I had a model 3 a few years ago and it was a great car. The new version is the same but slightly worse and now we know Elon is a Nazi.

There are better and less facist options now.

BYD now have 2 showrooms within 15 miles of me and I live in the arse end of beyond. They’ve been doing pop ups and displays in shopping centres etc and are advertising pretty aggressively locally.

The nearest Tesla service center is two hours away and they don’t advertise at all.

You don’t even need to resort to the Elon effect to explain why they’re tanking and chinese brands are booming: it’s just good old fashioned sales and marketing.

Good. European alternatives are getting better so we do not need Musk and Tesla as our sole EV company anymore. Musk is a huge fan of capitalism so I am sure he will welcome a bit of competition anyway, as well as supporting how the free market works. If all else fails, he will just artificially inflate his stock prices following another public meltdown where he will claim to be the victim again.

Kinda surprised sales aren’t lower. Even people who don’t keep up with the news know about Elon and his relationship to the brand.

    Who would buy one now?!

  10. These figures are pointless until we get to Q3. Deliveries of the new Model Y facelift have literally started in the last couple of weeks. More and more will start coming through, and the launch model completely sold out.

I expect sales will be down year-on-year, but when you only make 2 models and one of them is in the process of being refreshed/replaced then sales being ~ 50% down is hardly a shock. These sensationalist headlines don’t make much sense once you start looking into it with a degree of objectivity.

  11. That’s what happens when your CEO ties himself to a political hate figure.

It’s partly that Tesla cars have a lot more decent competition these days, but it’s mostly because Musk tied himself to Trump (and has his own weird politics) which plays really badly in the UK, especially with the kind of people who were buying electric cars. Do you want to support this man? Most electric car buyers don’t, so they buy something else.

little to do with Musk, more to do with the fact that nobody has any money now

  13. I 100% called this a few months ago when Tesla sales fell in Europe but stayed stronger in the UK

Most UK EV purchases are company cars (for the tax savings) and thus there’s a 4-6 month delay on delivery… meaning cars being delivered in May-June were ordered around January-February
