An economic entity had attempted to import chemical fertilizer originating from the Russian Federation, presenting it as a product originating from Serbia.

This attempted manipulation took place despite Kosovo Customs having previously notified the company in writing that the import of this product was prohibited, in accordance with international sanctions against the Russian Federation.

Customs acted in a timely manner and intervened at the moment the goods entered the border, stopping the shipment.

It is revealed that to avoid the ban, the company had packaged the goods in bags bearing the name of a Serbian manufacturer, attempting to present the goods as permitted for import.

“Through a Decision of Misdemeanor, the subject has been ordered to immediately return the goods outside the territory of Kosovo,” the customs announcement states.

This case is considered an important success in Kosovo Customs’ efforts to implement international sanctions, as well as to protect the local market from fraudulent practices.

“Kosovo Customs reiterates its commitment to law enforcement, transparency and integrity in international trade, warning that any attempt at evasion or manipulation will be treated seriously and with legal measures.
