North Macedonia’s trade deficit narrowed to $311 million in April 2025, from $331 million in the same month of the previous year.
Exports declined by 1.2% year-on-year to $754 million, while imports fell at a faster rate of 2.5% to $1,066 million.
For the January to April period, the country’s trade deficit totaled $1,198 million.
Exports decreased by 2.5% compared to the same period a year earlier, amounting to $2,786 million.
This decline was driven by lower sales of chemical and related products (-17.9%), miscellaneous finished goods (-7.8%), and products classified by material (-1.9%).
Meanwhile, imports dropped by 1.99% to $3,984 million, mainly due to reduced purchases of raw materials (excluding fuel) (-7.5%), machinery and equipment (-5.8%), and products classified by material (-3.5%).
