Today in Lofoten on the way to Sørvågen a acquaintance of mine witnessed two cars with tourists repacking their cars and leaving behind this insane amount of trash!

I can’t fathom traveling all the way to northern Norway to see our dramatic landscapes and nature only to leave behind shit to ruin said nature.

Who ever you are, shame on you! Do better.

There are large trash cans along the road, they are few and far between yes but they are there to be used.

So please , if you decide to visit don’t be a dick like these people.

Only thing to do is add monitoring and fine them viciously, these people don’t care and they’re definitely not on reddit

Oh yeah write that license plate number down and report them for sure.

    3. a_karma_sardine on

      Hard agree.

If you can, take a photo of their license plate and report them to the police. Littering is illegal here: a crime against the environment and anyone coming after them, people or animals.

    4. SpookyCrowz on

I cant even begin to understand why they even think it acceptable to do something like this

    5. If you can’t behave when you visit, get the fuck out. I live in Vest-Lofoten myself, and time and time again I see tourist litter trash everywhere. This is one of many reason locals are fed up with tourists that ruins for everyone.

These people are everywhere, so disgusting and sad. Rich enough to travel, but intelligence is poor.

    7. No_Programmer2715 on

No consequences -> No motivation. I bet they could not dare to do this if their life depending on it! Some people needs extreme to act like intelligent beings I guess…

    8. Drove after a elderly couple where the woman thought it propriet to throw out a bag with garbage 10 meters from the bin at a road stop here in Norway, at Suleskar veien…

I saw it to late so I picked it up and followed their car on my motorcycle (I was driving that same way), all the way to a little place named Russtad in Setesdal, they stoped at Circle K.. I just walked over, opened the door and placed the garbage bag on the woman’s lap and told her that it was hers and that she had to throw it away properly this time. She looked over to her husband, hoping he could «deal» with me for this but he just looked at me, swallowed and thought it best that his pig of a wife did the proper thing…

That woman will never forget the humiliation it was to carry that bag those to the garage bin just meters outside her car while I stared at her. They where Norwegians from frikking Oslo of cause, with an expensive car and they thought they have bought their way out of any desensy..

We have one earth, only one!

Tourists are scum and honestly, the type of ‘drive around the villages and country roads’ type of tourism Northern Norway is being raped with is the absolutely worst.

Charter tourism is at least limited to whatever place gets the resort.

      This is just awful.

      They’re named animals, not tourists.

Usually people that respect nature and others are cleaning up after themselves.

If you love a place, you shall leave it as you found it, that’s my philosophy.

This shit is why I have started to hate “allemannsretten “. I am a land owner and I hate to put up with this without really having any say in who or how many should be allowed to have their free garbage spreading vacation on MY land. And does the government or the county take any responsibility in cleaning up? Naaaah. But if you start putting up signs asking the idiots to stay away then they have a lot of resources to use to prosecute the land owner for infringement of the holy allemannsrett. Fuck it all.

As a foreigner (not a tourist though) I’m very disgusted by this kind of behaviour. I would love to report those people.

Now, going a little off topic… A question for you Norwegian people: would it be weird if someone picks up trash from the streets and throws it in a trash can? I see too much rubbish around and that makes my blood boil

    13. Background-Ebb8834 on

Og but its all for free 😣
All of last week has been spent picking up toilet paper ( soiled) and Asian candy wrappers from the tourist tsunami hitting the north every winter

    14. unosbastardes on

Are you surr its tourist? I have seen some horrific things locals do in northern norway with their trash.

    15. Sick to fucking death of tourists.
And if the right wing wins the election it’s gonna get even worse, all they care about is money, they want even more tourists. We need some politicians who care enough to put some actual restrictions in place.

    16. Nvolk_Ellak on

Yeah, and don’t shit in our woods (or near the beach or just anywhere that’s not a toilet)!

    17. Haestein_the_Naughty on

They probably think Lofoten is some kind of amusement park and that there’s people who will come collect it. Sadly many tourists with that mindset, viewing the places they go to as an amusement park

    18. Sociopathic human parasites who either believe or pretend the rules don’t apply to them. They don’t have an altruistic cell in their body and have no reason to show common courtesy because they receive nothing in return. Far too many people fit this description nowadays, and unfortunately, it seems to be getting worse.

    19. comsictrench on

They could do what I saw in San Diego where there was no trash and the fine for littering was 1000USD. It was one of the most trash free places I’ve ever visited aside from Tokyo.
