How is it faster than Nadal? They were literally the same age *to the day* when they won their 5th.

The placing of the Alcaraz tag and the colour of Djokovic makes it seem confusing. Would be better with Djokovic in purple and Alcaraz slightly left. Otherwise, very cool! 🙂

Please add Björn Borg, born June 6, 1956.
By age 22 and 5 days (June 11, 1978), he won 5.
By age 22 and 1 month, he won 6.

By age 30, Roger was truly ahead. But his 30’s were spent going up against prime Novak.
When Novak got to 30, he was going up against the Zverev’s and Medvedev’s.
I look forward to seeing Carlos and Jannik in the next 4 seasons. I don’t see anyone else beating them in a slam.

Not faster than Nadal. It was on the news, he got his fifth Grand Slam at the same age (to the day!) as Nadal.

As others have said Nadal won his 5th at the exact same age to the day that Alcaraz did.
Also crazy that Djokovic won half his slams before 30 and half afterwards! Understandable given he had more competition in his 20s but still crazy to win 12 in your 30s when most people are way past their best by then.

I will only be impressed if Sinner and Alcaraz also have 17 at age 32.

Haven’t there only been three gland slams ever in men’s tennis?

Very nice!
I see that Federer slowed down at 30 years of age. Was this when Nadal and Djokovic started?
Would we be able to see an alternative view with year at the bottom rather than age?

Age 36 is the cliff, even the greats can’t get a grand slam at that age.

Cool graph with the dot in the line, makes it easy to read.

I’m not a big tennis fan, but I actually like seeing the same/similar dataset visualized different ways. Doing so shows how differences in visualization choices can really change the focus and narrative of the visualization.
I also like the look of the lines due to this bit of matplotlib formatting:
never realized all of big 3 did not won a slam after 36 (djokovic as it stands)

Nadal was actually 1 day quicker. When they did the 22 years 1 month and 3 days thing it included a 30 day month for Nadal and 31 day month for Carlos.

So Nadal was faster by 1 day
One might say he’s ahead of the curve
Age 36 is a wall. Time is undefeated.
sustaining that for decades is going to be tough
