Reese and the Chicago Sky started the season on the wrong foot. They lost four straight games and tied a franchise record for the worst start to a season.
While they bounced back with two straight wins over the Dallas Wings, the Sky were recently dealt another loss to the Indiana Fever.
During their loss to Indiana, Chicago added salt to the wound.
Sky guard Courtney Vandersloot went to the locker room with a leg injury and did not return. The WNBA star was then re-evaluated after the game, where the Sky revealed that she had torn her ACL and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
On Tuesday, as Angel Reese and the Sky prepared for another matchup, Chicago’s forward gave her honest thoughts on the loss of Vandersloot.

“It’s super unfortunate,” Reese said. “She works really hard, was a great leader for us, and she’s continued to be that for us. She’s done so much for our game and decided to leave a championship team, come to Chicago, and leave her legacy there.”
Throughout the season, Courtney Vandersloot posted 10.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
Vandersloot began her career with the Chicago Sky in 2011. After leaving to play for the New York Liberty for two years, Vandersloot returned to Chicago.
While she was seemingly viewed as the team’s leader on the court, having been in the league for over a decade, the Sky star will no longer be viewed as a player-coach on the court.
