The anthem of Kosovo turns 17 years old today

The national anthem of Kosovo today marks 17 years since its approval in the 120-member Assembly that declared independence on February 17, 2008.
The proposal with the number “Europa” was approved on June 11, 2008 in a special session as the national anthem with 72 votes in favor, 15 against and 5 abstentions.
When the melody of the author Mendi Mengjiqi was proposed, the anthem also had the written verses, but due to the restrictions from the package of former president Martti Ahtisaari, the selection committee was forced to remove the text.
